Sisters ~ Tami Waters

THIS SAYS IT ALL:

Time passes.

Life happens.

Distance separates.

Children grow up.

Jobs come and go.

Love waxes and wanes.

Men don't do what they're supposed to do.

Hearts break.

Parents die.

Colleagues forget favors.

Careers end.

BUT.........

Sisters are there,

no matter how much time and how

many miles are between you.

A girl friend is never farther away

than needing her can reach.

When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you

have to walk it by yourself, the women in your life

will be on the valley's rim, cheering you on,

praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on

your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the

valley's end.

Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk

beside you...Or come in and carry you out.

Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters,

daughters-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law, Mothers,

Grandmothers, aunties, nieces, cousins, and extended

family, all bless our life!

The world wouldn't be the same without women, and

neither would I. When we began this adventure called

womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or

sorrows that lay ahead. Nor did we know how much we

would need each other.

Every day, we need each other still.

Family Matters ~ Cheryl

Being a parent is one of the toughest yet most fulfilling jobs on earth. It is also one for which most people feel the least prepared. I have taken some excerpts from an article from Kids Health that gives 9 steps to more effective parenting which I will share over several weeks.

Hopefully these will help us to tackle our child raising responsibilities & enjoy our children even more.

#1.Nuture your child’s self esteem. Your words and actions as parents affect your child’s developing self image more than anything else in the world. Praising your child for his or her accomplishments, however small, will make them feel proud, capable, and independent. However, belittling your child or comparing them unfavorably to another child will make them feel worthless.

#2. Catch your child being good. If most of us stopped to think, we would probably realize how many times we react negatively to our children in any given day. Ask yourself if you are criticizing more than you are complimenting? Then make a point of finding something to praise your child about every day. You will find that your love, hugs, and compliments can work wonders!! Soon you may find you are “growing” the behavior you would like to see.

#3. Set limits & be consistent with your discipline.
Discipline is necessary in every household. Establishing rules will help children understand your expectations and develop self control. I really believe that children feel safer & more loved when rules are established and kept. A common mistake parents make is failure to follow through with consequences when rules are broken. You can’t discipline a child for talking back one day, and ignore it the next. Being consistent teaches your child what is expected.

A prayer For You ~Doris Parker

Praying for you:

May today be all you need it to be.

May the Peace of God and the freshness of the Holy Spirit rest in your thoughts, rule in your dreams tonight, and conquer all your fears.

May God manifest himself today in ways you have never experienced.

May your joys be fulfilled, your dreams be closer, and your prayers be answered.

I pray that faith enters a new height for you;

I pray that your territory is enlarged.

I pray for peace, healing, health, happiness, prosperity, joy, true and undying love for God to fill every particle of your life now and always.

In Jesus' Name, AMEN!!!!!

Word For The Day ~ Cheryl

Wanted to share something with you that was in a book called God Calling which was given to me by a sweet christian lady. It really ministered to me! Think about it:

"It is not life and it's difficulties you have to conquer, only the self in you."

A Merry Heart ~ Cheryl

A Florida senior citizen drove his brand new Corvette convertible out of the dealership. Taking off down the road, he pushed it to 80 mph, enjoying the wind blowing through what little hair he had left.

'Amazing,' he thought as he flew down I-75, pushing the pedal even more.

Looking in his rear view mirror, he saw the state trooper behind him, blue lights flashing and siren blaring. He floored it to 100mph, then 110, then 120.

Suddenly he thought, 'What am I doing? I'm too old for this!' and he pulled over to await the trooper's arrival.

Pulling in behind him, the trooper walked up to the Corvette, looked at his watch and said, 'Sir, my shift ends in 30 minutes. Today is Friday. If you can give me a reason for speeding that I've never heard before, I'll let you go.'

The old gentleman paused and said, 'Three years ago, my wife ran off with a Florida State Trooper. I thought you were bringing her back.'

'You have a good day, Sir,' replied the trooper.

A Merry Heart {Well Kinda} ~Cheryl

The boss wondered why one of his most valued employees had not phoned in sick one day. Having an urgent problem with one of the main computers, he dialed the employee's home phone number and was greeted with a child's whisper. ' Hello ? '

'Is your daddy home?' he asked.

' Yes ,' whispered the small voice.

May I talk with him?'

The child whispered, ' No .'

Surprised and wanting to talk with an adult, the boss asked, 'Is your Mommy there?'

'Yes. '

'May I talk with her?'

Again the small voice whispered, ' No .'

Hoping there was somebody with whom he could leave a message, the boss asked, 'Is anybody else there?'

' Yes ,' whispered the child, ' a policeman '.

Wondering what a cop would be doing at his employee's home, the boss asked, 'May I speak with the policeman?'

' No, he's busy ', whispered the child.

'Busy doing what?'

' Talking to Daddy and Mommy and the Fireman ,' came the whispered answer.

Growing more worried as he heard a loud noise in the background through the earpiece on the phone, the boss asked, 'What is that noise?'

' A helicopter ' answered the whispering voice.

'What is going on there?' demanded the boss, now truly apprehensive.

Again, whispering, the child answered, ' The search team just landed a helicopter .'

Alarmed, concerned and a little frustrated the boss asked, 'What are they searching for?'

Still whispering, the young voice replied with a muffled giggle...

' ME .'

The Burning Hut ~Cheryl

The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him, and every day he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming.
Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect him from the elements, and to store his few possessions. But then one day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut in flames, the smoke rolling up to the sky.
The worst had happened; everything was lost. He was stunned with grief and anger.
"God, how could you do this to me!" he cried.
Early the next day, however, he was awakened by the sound of a ship that was approaching the island. It had come to rescue him.
"How did you know I was here?" asked the weary man of his rescuers.
"We saw your smoke signal," they replied.
One of the lessons of this story is for us to keep trusting God even when it looks like the very worst thing that could happen has. God can still turn around our worst situations & make them good! We probably just don’t know how He is going to do it!!

Poem by Wanda Williams

A poem of peaceful thought. We as Christians need to announce to the world the message in this poem. With the understanding of these words souls can be won to Christ. The very breath of friends and neighbors saved for eternity. If we will just let them know what a wonderful, beautiful place the Kingdom of God is and will be for all those who commit to Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

Heaven Is My Home
Wanda L Williams

The time is drawing nigh
For God's children to go home.

The gates of pearl are opening
As the angles sing their song.

Weep no more my children
For the streets of gold are warm.

Your house is lit with laughter
And your family feels no harm.

There will be no more suffering
As Gabriel blows his horn.

The gates of pearl are opening
For God's children to go home.

Word for the Day ~ Wanda

Just a thought about how we as adults weather the storms in our life.

When lightening strikes do we look up and smile or do we cringe then run for cover.

As Christians, God's Word should never be any further than from our heart to our mouth. Prayer not fear should be the first to enter our heart and mind. With prayer comes peace and with peace a smile.

May God bless you as you weather the storms of your life and don't forget to smile. Wanda

A little girl walked to and from school daily. Though the weather that

morning was questionable and clouds were forming, she made her daily

trek to the elementary school. As the afternoon progressed, the winds

whipped up, along with thunder and lightning. The mother of the little

girl felt concerned that her daughter would be frightened as she walked

home from school and she herself feared that the electrical storm might

harm her child.

Full of concern, the mother quickly got into her car and drove along the

route to her child's school. As she did so, she saw her little girl

walking along, but at each flash of lightning, the child would stop,

look up and smile. Another and an other were to follow quickly and with

each the little girl would look at the streak of light and smile.

When the mother's car drew up beside the child she lowered the window

and called to her, 'What are you doing?' The child answered, 'I am

trying to look pretty. God keeps taking my picture.'
