A Merry Heart ~ Cheryl

A mom was concerned about her kindergarten
son walking to school. He didn't want his mother
to walk with him. She wanted to give him the
feeling that he had some independence but yet
know that he was safe.

So she had an idea of how to h andle it. She asked
a neighbor if she would please follow him to school
in the mornings, staying at a distance, so he probably
wouldn't notice her.

She said that since she was up early with her
toddler anyway, it would be a good way for them
to get some exercise as well, so she agreed.

The next school day, the neighbor and her little girl
set out following behind Timmy as he walked to
school with another neighbor girl he knew. She did
this for the whole week.

As the two walked and chatted, kicking stones and
twigs, Timmy's little friend noticed the same lady was
following them as she seemed to do every day all
week.

Finally she said to Timmy, "Have you
noticed that lady following us to school all week?
Do you know her?"

Timmy nonchalantly replied,
"Yeah, I know who she is." The little girl said,
"Well,
who is she?"

"That's just Shirley Goodnest," Timmy replied, "and
her daughter Marcy."

"Shirley Goodnest? Who the heck is she and why is
she following us? "

"Well," Timmy explained, "every night my Mom
makes me say the 23rd Psalm with my prayers, 'cuz
she worries about me so much. And in the Psalm, it
says, 'Shirley Goodnest and Marcy shall follow me
all the days of my life', so I guess I'll just have to get
used to it!"

The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His
face to shine upon you, and be gracious unto you; the
Lord lift His countenance upon you, and give you
peace.
May Shirley Goodnest and Marcy be with you today
and always.

Family Matters ~ Pastor Cheryl

Before I was a Mom - I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby. I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous. I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom - I had never been puked on. Pooped on. Chewed on. Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts. I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom - I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots. I never looked into teary eyes and cried. I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin. I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom - I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put him down. I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt. I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much. I never knew that I could love someone so much. I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom - I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby. I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child. I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom -I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay. I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache,
the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom. I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom.

Red-neck Chair Swing ~ Anybody have one of these?

Word For The Day ~Cheryl

I read this story & thought it would be a great lesson for us all.

“I had the meanest mother in the world.
While other kids had candy for breakfast, I had to eat my cereal, eggs and toast.
While other kids had cakes and candy for lunch, I had a sandwich.
As you can guess, my supper was different from other kids’ supper too.
My mother was so mean that she insisted on knowing where we were at all times.
You’d think we were in prison or something.
She had to know who our friends were and what we were doing.
I am ashamed to admit this, but my Mother actually had the nerve
to break the child labor laws. She made us work.
We had to wash dishes, make the beds and learn how to cook and clean.
I think my mother must have stayed awake at night
thinking of things for us kids to do.
And, she insisted that we tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.
She never let me get away with anything.
By the time we were teenagers, my mother was even wiser
and our life became even more unbearable.
She would embarrass us by insisting that our friends come to the door
instead of tooting the car horn for us to come running.
And she always insisted that we be home early on school nights
and never let us stay out late on weekends like all our other friends.
On Sundays, there was no option except church.
We missed so much fun.
Mother was so mean that she refused to let us date at the mature age of 13 or 14,
like so many of our friends did. Instead, we had to wait until we were 16.
She kept telling us that there was a lot of time –
and that we needed to grow up a bit first.
Mother really raised a bunch of squares.
None of us was arrested for shoplifting or busted for drugs.
Today, I am employed, healthy, and have a relationship with God.
Who do I have to thank for this?
THE MEANEST (AND MOST WONDERFUL) MOTHER IN THE WORLD!”

A Merry Heart ~Ronda

THREE WOMEN, TWO YOUNGER AND ONE A SENIOR CITIZEN,
WERE SITTING NAKED IN A SAUNA.

SUDDENLY THERE WAS A BEEPING SOUND. THE YOUNG WOMAN PRESSED HER FOREARM AND THE
BEEP STOPPED. THE OTHERS LOOKED AT HER QUESTIONINGLY. "THAT WAS MY PAGER ,SHE SAID. I HAVE A MICROCHIP UNDER THE SKIN OF MY ARM."

A FEW MINUTES LATER, A PHONE RANG. THE SECOND YOUNG WOMAN LIFTED HER PALM TO HER
EAR. WHEN SHE FINISHED, SHE EXPLAINED, "THAT WAS MY MOBILE PHONE ,I HAVE A
MICROCHIP IN MY HAND."

THE OLDER WOMAN FELT VERY LOW-TECH. NOT TO BE OUT DONE, SHE DECIDED SHE HAD TO DO SOMETHING JUST AS IMPRESSIVE. SHE STEPPED OUT OF THE SAUNA AND WENT TO THE BATHROOM.
SHE RETURNED WITH A PIECE OF TOILET PAPER HANGING FROM HER REAR END. THE OTHERS
RAISED THEIR EYEBROWS AND STARED AT HER. THE OLDER WOMAN FINALLY SAID......... "
WELL, WILL YOU LOOK AT THAT... I'M GETTING A FAX " !!

Word For The Day ~ Norma

What SHAPE are you in?

With the arrival of spring I begin to think about getting my physical body into shape for summer.
How can I best lose those few extra pounds I picked up over the winter ?
I begin to cut back on the sugar, eat smaller portions and try to get in some walking and stretching exercises.
As I was walking one day I began to think about my spiritual shape. How do I maintain proper "Spiritual Shape?"

S ~ Spiritual Gifts / Do not allow my Spiritual gifts go unused, they may become rusty.

H ~Heart of Passion/Do not let go of my desire for the Word.

A~ Abilities/ How can my natural abilities be used for God?

P~ Personality / Do I present an attitude of peace and love to others?

E~ Experiences/ Do I turn my trials into testimonies ?

This Spring as I work to get my body back into shape.
I am also working on improving my Spiritual Shape !!
Won't you join me?

A Merry Heart

Eleven people were hanging on a rope, under a helicopter.

10 men and 1 woman.

The rope was not strong enough to carry them all,
so they decided that 1 had to leave,
Because otherwise they were all going to fall.

They weren't able to choose that person,
Until the woman gave a very touching speech
She said that she would voluntarily.......... let go of the
rope,
Because, as a woman, she was used to giving up
everything for her husband and kids or for men in
general, and was used to always making sacrifices
with little in return.

As soon as she finished her speech,
.........All the men started clapping !!!!!!!!!

The Greatest Man in History . . .
Jesus had no servants, yet they called Him Master.
Had no degree, yet they called Him Teacher.
Had no medicines, yet they called Him Healer.
He had no army, yet kings feared Him.
He won no military battles, yet He conquered the world.
He committed no crime, yet they crucified Him.
He was buried in a tomb, yet He lives today.

I feel honored to serve such a Leader who loves us!

Cute mom story....

I was out walking with my 4 year old daughter. She picked up something
off the ground and started to put it in her mouth. I took the item away
from her and I asked her not to do that. 'Why?' my daughter asked.
'Because it's been on the ground, you don't know where it's been, it's
dirty, and probably has germs' I replied. At this point, my daughter
looked at me with total admiration and asked, 'Momma, how do you know
all this stuff, you are so smart.' I was thinking quickly. 'All moms
know this stuff. It's on the Mom Test. You have to know it, or they
don't let you be a Mom.' We walked along in silence for 2 or 3 minutes,
but she was evidently pondering this new information. 'OH...I get it!'
she beamed, 'So if you don't pass the test you have to be the dad.

''Exactly' I replied back with a big smile on my face.
